AFOA Ontario Announces New President Ivan Thompson and Executive

WASAUKSING FIRST NATION – AFOA Ontario has issued the following statement regarding the selection of its new President and Executive: 

Following its 2025 Annual General Meeting, AFOA Ontario’s Board of Directors has selected its new Executive for the 2025–2026 term. 

Ivan Thompson has been elected President of AFOA Ontario, along with: 

Vice President: Stanley Sabourin 

Treasurer: Wilma Tabobondung  

Secretary: James Forneri 

AFOA Canada National Representative: Lily-Anne Mt Pleasant 

“It’s an honour to serve our members and continue advancing Indigenous professional excellence  across Ontario,” said AFOA Ontario President Ivan Thompson. “Together, we will strengthen capacity  and create new opportunities for Indigenous professionals and communities.” 

About Ivan Thompson: 

Ivan Thompson, a Wolf Clan member from the Mohawks of Akwesasne, has over 16 years of finance experience and currently serves as Accountant for the Kahnawake Fire Brigade. A CAFM holder with  business diplomas, he is the current President of AFOA Ontario and an active community board member.
